Zurich/San Francisco – Lakera AI has received 20 million dollars in a Series A financing round. The start-up wants to use this to further develop its real-time backup for generative artificial intelligence in companies. In addition, the locations in the USA and Switzerland are to be significantly expanded.
Lakera has successfully closed a Series A financing round with 20 million dollars. The 10 million dollars raised in an early financing round just a few months ago brings the total amount of investment received to date to 30 million dollars. According to a statement, the current round was led by the venture capital firm Atomico, which is active throughout Europe. Citi Ventures, the venture capital arm of Citibank, and the San Francisco-based company Dropbox have also participated, as have existing investors, including redalpine from Berlin.
Lakera claims to offer the world's most advanced platform for securing enterprise applications of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in real time. It uses proprietary AI to create guard rails so that the model cannot be manipulated. This does not affect the interactivity of the applications. "The Lakera team has extensive expertise and a deep understanding of the complex security challenges facing organizations with LLMs (large language models) and generative AI," said Donald Tucker, Head of Corporate Development and Ventures at investor Dropbox.
"Their advanced technology helps companies like Dropbox protect themselves against the vulnerabilities of these new technologies." With this financing round, Lakera intends to accelerate its product development and market launch strategy. In addition, the presence in the USA and Europe, particularly at the San Francisco and Zurich locations, is to be significantly expanded "in order to meet market demand". ce/mm
