Swissloop wins prizes at European Hyperloop Week 2024

Zurich/Dübendorf ZH – Swissloop has won three awards at the first European Hyperloop Week in Switzerland. The first research facility for the transportation system in vacuum tubes, Demo Tube, was also opened at the Innovation Park Zurich.

Swissloop was successful at the European Hyperloop Week, which took place in Switzerland for the first time from July 15 to 21, 2024. The team of students from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH), which has repeatedly won prizes in international competitions for many years, once again won three prizes for the further development of this means of transportation with magnetically levitating vehicles that travel through vacuum tubes.

Euro Tube awarded Swissloop the prize for vacuum compatibility. The non-profit foundation based in Dübendorf aims to become the leading knowledge center for Hyperloop vacuum transport technology and plans to open the world's first publicly accessible high-speed test track, Alpha Tube, and a research center in Valais.

Swissloop also received an award for scalability and came 3rd in the Complete System Award. As a technical innovation in the competition, the Dutch team Delft Hyperloop was able to demonstrate the lane change for the first time.

The largest of this annual event to date attracted 400 participants, including 360 students from 21 teams and around 45 jury members. A total of seven teams - the highest number in the history of the European Hyperloop Week - took part in the public demonstrations at the Innovation Park Zurich in Dübendorf. The first research facility for the development of Hyperloop infrastructure, DemoTube, was also opened at the site on July 19 in front of 400 visitors. ce/mm
