Küssnacht SZ/Wädenswil ZH – Mabewo has developed a new photovoltaic system for agriculture. AgriRacks will be presented at a symposium organized by the Department of Life Science and Facility Management at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences on the campus in Wädenswil.
Mabewo's Agrar Solutions business unit will be presenting AgriRacks at a symposium organized by the Department of Life Science and Facility Management at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences on the Wädenswil campus on August 21. With the new agrivoltaic system, land use and energy generation can take place on the same area, writes the Schwyz-based technology company in a press release. An integrated meteoric water management system allows rainwater to be collected, making farms more independent in terms of water supply.
In times of climate change and increasing soil sealing, advanced solutions for food production and energy generation are in demand. "We are convinced that such systems can make a valuable contribution to the sustainable development of Swiss agriculture," says Jörg Trübl, co-founder and board member of Mabewo.
Mabewo is teaming up with the ZHAW to take the step towards greater self-sufficiency and plant protection in agricultural food production. As part of the cooperation, Mabewo and the ZHAW want to establish a local electricity community (LEG) in accordance with the Electricity Act of 2024. This will allow locally generated electricity to be marketed via the public grid within a neighborhood or even a municipality. ce/heg
