Thalwil ZH/Porto Alegre – u-blox and Nordian have agreed to collaborate in the field of global satellite navigation. The aim is to enable more precise positioning of agricultural machinery in the Brazilian agricultural sector.
Thalwil-based chip and sensor manufacturer u-blox has entered into a partnership with Nordian, a precision positioning technology company based in Porto Alegre. According to a press release, the two companies intend to offer advanced hardware solutions and services in the field of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) for the South American market.
In particular, the PointPerfect GNSS system, which could previously only be controlled via mobile radio correction in Brazil, is to be expanded with the introduction of L-band satellites. This means that the services can also be used in regions not previously covered by mobile communications. PointPerfekt is a satellite navigation system that can determine the position of a vehicle every second with an accuracy of 3 to 6 centimeters.
It is therefore ideal for controlling automated agricultural machinery on large areas.
Another advantage for users is that they only pay for the services when they actually use them - in agricultural production, this means during the sowing and harvesting season. ce/ww
