Winterthur/Bremen – Bremen’s city cleaning service has added two zero-emission vehicles from Flux Mobility to its fleet. They were ceremoniously presented on November 11 on the market square of the Hanseatic city.
According to a press release, Bremen's city cleaning service is now using two electric waste collection vehicles from the Winterthur-based company Flux Mobility. They were presented to the local public on November 11 in the presence of Senator for the Environment Kathrin Moosdorf on the market square of the northern German city.
"With the first two electric waste collection vehicles of this size, we are sending out a strong signal for achieving our climate protection goals," says Flux Mobility, quoting Daniela Enslein, member of the board of Bremer Stadtreinigung. "The cooperation across national borders worked very well, and all our needs were taken into account in the vehicle configuration."
These two vehicles with a permissible total weight of 6,000 kilograms and a capacity of around 4.5 cubic meters for around 1,100 kilograms of cargo cover 80 to 120 kilometers a day in Bremen four to six days a week. A special feature is the electric auxiliary drive for the waste compactor body. This allows it to be operated independently of the electric motor, minimizing throttling and idling losses and reducing operating costs. The battery capacity is 112 kilowatt hours and the top speed is 89 kilometers per hour.
Malwin Haas, who is responsible for business development at Flux Mobility, emphasizes that the close cooperation with Bremen's municipal cleaning service and local service partners has made this tailor-made waste disposal solution possible: "This project shows how we can gradually advance sustainable mobility solutions in urban areas through cooperative approaches." ce/mm
