PAWI launches recyclable packaging for fruit and berries

Winterthur – PAWI is launching recyclable cardboard boxes for fruit and soft fruit. They combine sustainable materials with high functionality. Fruit stays fresh for a particularly long time thanks to a firm rim and special coating. They are also easy to stack and suitable for efficient logistics.

(CONNECT) PAWI Packaging Schweiz AG is expanding its portfolio to include recyclable carton trays for fruit and soft fruit. As the Winterthur-based packaging manufacturer writes in a press release, the boxes are made from renewable raw materials and can be returned to the recycling loop.

The cardboard trays have a particularly sturdy, double-glued edge and are easy to fill by machine and manually. A special coating enables fruit to be kept fresh for longer. PAWI offers an integrated, sustainable absorbent fleece for sensitive and perishable products such as raspberries or blueberries.

Their space-saving design helps with efficient logistics. The trays for 250 gram or 500 gram contents are "delivered upright and can be stacked compactly, while the single-layer baskets are delivered flat and can be set upright in a few simple steps before filling". PAWI offers retailers the option of having the boxes printed with their individual company logo.

The development was based on the principle that fresh and sensitive products require packaging solutions "that are not only environmentally friendly, but also guarantee functionality and product protection". ce/heg
