Four Swiss companies are among the Top Greentech Companies 2025

New York/Hamburg – Climeworks is the second-best company in New York Time magazine’s World’s Top Greentech Companies 2025, behind BETA Technologies from the USA. Three other Swiss companies are among the best: Planted (5), H55 (178) and Insolight (188).

(CONNECT) Four Swiss companies are ranked among the best cleantech companies in the world by "Time" magazine. For the World's Top Greentech Companies 2025 ranking, a total of 8,000 companies whose developments mitigate or reverse the impact of human activities on the planet were examined in collaboration with the German data company Statista. Six of the top 10 are from Europe and eleven of the top 20 are from the USA. The leader of the pack is BETA Technologies, the battery-powered aircraft manufacturer from the US state of Vermont.

The Zurich-based company Climeworks follows in second place. The spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) is using its technology to capture CO2 from the air "on an unprecedented scale", according to "Time". Since last year, it has been producing the third generation of its carbon capture technology, which doubles the CO2 capture capacity per module.

The first plant to use this new generation of technology in the megaton range will be built at the Project Cypress DAC Hub in the US state of Louisiana from 2026. In addition, the company is actively developing further projects in the USA, Norway, Kenya and Canada on its way to gigaton capacity. Climeworks sells carbon credits to 160 companies, including JPMorgan Chase, Microsoft, Stripe, Shopify and Lego.

Planted Food from Kemptthal ZH follows in 5th place in the ranking of the top 250 companies. Founded in 2019, the company specializes in plant-based meat alternatives. Its products are now available in over 6100 restaurants and more than 8,700 stores in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, the UK and the Benelux countries, as well as online. Planted recently opened a new production facility in Germany.

H55 is in 178th place. At its sites in Sion VD and Canada, the company develops sustainable and certified electrical systems for the electric drive and battery management of aircraft. H55 and one of its first customers, the Czech company BRM Aero, presented their all-electric and CS-23-certified two-seater aircraft B23 Energic at the Aero 2024 in Friedrichshafen. It has been delivered since the beginning of 2025.

Insolight has rank 188. The Lausanne-based spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne has demonstrated that it is possible to simultaneously produce electricity and agricultural produce efficiently with its agro-photovoltaic systems. Insolight is now also expanding its activities to France and the DACH region. ce/mm
