Beyond Gravity and Rocket Lab cooperate

Zurich/Long Beach – Beyond Gravity integrates Rocket Lab’s flight software and ground data and space operations platform into its onboard computer for multi-satellite constellations. This pre-integrated combination shortens the time to launch for customers.

(CONNECT) Beyond Gravity from Zurich and the Californian company Rocket Lab Space Systems have entered into a partnership, according to a press release. Its aim is to offer future customers pre-integrated avionics and flight software for the so-called constellation market. This market for commercial satellite constellations refers to the use of several interconnected satellites. It can be used to offer various services such as global communication, earth observation, navigation and space-based applications.

The specific offering from the two partners combines off-the-shelf satellite platform products designed for payload connectivity: Beyond Gravity's Constellation on-board computer, MAX Constellation full-stack flight software and Rocket Lab's InterMission software suites.

"With more than 300 units of our Constellation On Board Computer sold, we have set a standard for satellite computers for constellations," says Oliver Grassmann, Executive Vice President Satellites at international space supplier Beyond Gravity. "The partnership with Rocket Lab enables the use of their leading flight software on our computer and provides our customers with an integrated, flight-ready avionics and ground operations package."

The collaboration between the two companies optimizes the interfaces between payloads, explains Rocket Labs Vice President Brad Clevenger: "This partnership ensures that our satellite platform products are off-the-shelf and optimized for peak performance and reliability so that customers can reliably achieve their mission objectives." ce/mm
