(CONNECT) Life sciences company CUTISS AG has completed patient recruitment for a Phase 2 trial of its lead product denovoSkin, according to a statement. The study investigates how safe and effective skin tissue therapy is for children with severe burns.
Based on the results obtained with the paediatric patients, the use of the "personalized, biotechnologically produced skin graft" is to be expanded. denovoSkin has also been used to treat children for whom existing therapies were not successful. The study compared theovoSkin with the current standard of care - autologous skin grafting using an intra-patient control design.
According to the press release, the randomized, controlled study is one of three phase 2 studies in which test subjects from different patient groups and with different indications receive denovoSkin. The results are to be incorporated into the broader clinical development program of denovoSkin, which is currently in phase 3 for adolescents and adults.
CUTISS is located in the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich. ce/heg
