Positrigo receives investment of 7 million francs

Zurich – Positrigo has raised 7 million Swiss francs in an oversubscribed financing round. This will allow the start-up to speed up the production of its brain scanner and focus on the market launch in the USA and Europe.

(CONNECT) Positrigo has successfully completed a financing round. The company, which was founded in 2018 as a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and is based in Technopark Zurich, generated CHF 7 million in revenue, according to its press release.

This oversubscribed round was led by two venture capital firms: HealthCap, which focuses on life sciences and is based in Stockholm and Lausanne, and Navivo from Warsaw, which supports European technology companies in their global expansion. Shareholders, family offices and individuals who have been supporting the medical technology company for some time also took part.

Positrigo develops nuclear medicine imaging devices that show brain functions. The NeuroLF brain scanner is an ultra-compact brain positron tomograph (PET) that is the first in its class to be approved in the EU and the USA. It is used to diagnose tumors, epilepsy or Parkinson's disease. However, Positrigo sees the greatest demand in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. “This investment will allow us to capitalize on these market opportunities by making PET brain imaging much more accessible than it is today,” says CEO and co-founder Jannis Fischer.

HealthCap partner Max Odlander will join the Board of Directors together with the two independent personalities Didier Deltort and Dr. Ajit Singh. On the other hand, the two co-founders Prof. Alfred Buck and Dr. Max Ahnen are not standing for re-election, nor is Dr. Nicholas Verwilghen. ce/mm
