Association "Stiftungsstandort Zürich" Strengthens Zurich’s Foundation Sector

Zurich – The “Stiftungsstandort Zürich” association was founded on June 24. Consisting of relevant players, it is intended to further the initiative of the Zurich Government Council to promote Zurich as a foundation location and to promote networking within the sector.

(CONNECT) The association "Stiftungsstandort Zürich" announced its establishment on June 24 in a press release. The founding members include the Department of Economic Affairs of the Canton of Zurich, proFonds, SwissFoundations, the Center for Foundation Law at the University of Zurich (UZH) and the ZKB Philanthropy Foundation. From now on, the association will consolidate the initiative launched by the Zurich cantonal government in 2021 to promote Zurich as a foundation location.

The aim of the association is to sustainably strengthen the location for non-profit actors and to further develop the foundation ecosystem. The association also aims to promote dialog and networking between the foundation sector, government council, administration, science and business. In future, targeted measures and initiatives should contribute to the promotion of a dynamic and innovative foundation landscape and the networking of players in Zurich.

The founding statutes were signed by representatives of the founding members, led by Government Councillor Carmen Walker Späh, UZH Rector Prof. Dr. Michael Schaepman and Cantonal Councillor Roger Liebi. Lisa Meyerhans Sarasin from SwissFoundations was elected President of the Board by the founding members. The other members of the Board of Directors are François Geinoz, Dr. Matthias Inauen, Prof. Dr. Dominique Jakob, Dr. Joëlle Pianzola and Dr. Lukas von Orelli.

To kick off its activities, the association is also inviting people to the first Zurich Foundation Forum on October 1, 2025. Under the motto "Collaboration creates impact", the forum is intended to provide a platform for exchange and networking between charitable foundations and cantonal and local authorities. ce/nta
