HWZ and Foodward Launch CAS for the Food Service Market

Zurich – Together with the foodward foundation, the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (HWZ) is offering the CAS course Lean Management & Innovation in Food Service & Supply Chains from February 2026. The course teaches skills at the interface between food service, logistics and industry.

(CONNECT) The HWZ and the foodward foundation want to strengthen professionalization and innovation in the dynamic food service market with a new continuing education course. This is why they will be jointly offering the Certificate in Advanced Studies (CAS) Lean Management & Innovation in Food Service & Supply Chains from February 2026.

According to a press release, the course aims to qualify "urgently needed specialists and managers" for this area. This is because the market for companies that provide food to restaurants, grocery stores and catering companies is facing profound changes: A shortage of skilled workers, increasing pressure to be efficient and increasingly complex value chains require new skills. The CAS is designed to teach these skills, particularly at the interface between food service, logistics and industry.

"The increasingly necessary systematization of the food service market can only be successful in the long term if the upstream supply chain partners and employees are involved and motivated," foodward founder Thomas Bratschi is quoted as saying. "With this CAS, the HWZ is supporting the desired transformation - together with experts from the extended university environment and foodward's industry knowledge and network."

The new, practical training program is aimed at specialists and managers in gastronomy, catering, the supply industry and logistics. It is divided into three modules and can be credited towards the Master in Advanced Studies (MAS) Excellence in Food, which is run by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and the Bern University of Applied Sciences. ce/mm
