Relianz Group focuses on reprocessing marine plastic

Bonstetten ZH – The Relianz Group is increasingly using certified marine plastic in its big bags. The packaging group’s ECO ReBags are made from 30 to 50 percent ocean plastic from #tide ocean material. In the past twelve months, Relianz has recycled 24 tons of marine plastic.

(CONNECT) The Relianz Group is committed to recycling marine plastic. Over the past twelve months, the packaging group specialising in sacks has "significantly increased the proportion of certified marine plastic used in the production of its big bags", Relianz explains in a press release. The Group's ECO-ReBags are currently made from 30 to 50 percent certified marine plastic.

In total, Relianz has incorporated 24 tons of GRS-certified PCR Level 2 marine plastic into big bags over the past twelve months. According to the press release, the production of sustainable packaging increased by 30 percent compared to the same period last year. The advantages for customers are the environmental friendliness of the big bags and the improvement of their own CO2 balance through their use.

Relianz relies on tide ocean SA from Lengnau BE to source its certified marine plastic. With #tide ocean material, it offers a granulate for plastic injection. It is obtained from plastic waste collected in the Andaman Sea and processed in a partner plant in Bangladesh.

Relianz can prove the origin and use of the marine plastic via a CSI certificate of traceability. "More and more suppliers are talking about recycling, but it often remains unclear which materials are actually used," Andreas Engeler, Managing Director of the Relianz Group, is quoted as saying in the press release. "We deliberately use fully certified marine plastic and thus offer our customers a transparent, traceable and verifiably sustainable solution." ce/hs
