Schlieren ZH – The Schlieren site has developed successfully. This is shown in the interim report on the Economic Strategy 2025. The number of companies has risen by 13 percent since 2020, their tax revenue by 8 percent. Location promoter Albert Schweizer will retire in 2026. The city wants to increase the position.
(CONNECT) In an interim report, Schlieren City Council draws a positive balance of its Economic Strategy 2025 adopted in 2021. The number of legal entities increased from 1221 in 2020 to 1384 last year, an increase of 13 percent. In the same period, its tax income rose from CHF 21.827 million to CHF 23.751 million. At 20,000, the number of jobs in the city is just as high as the number of residents.
The two most important business clusters, biotechnology around the Bio-Technopark and Start-up City around the Institute for Start-ups and the Start Smart Schlieren association, have been networked and strengthened. The city's innovation and start-up center IJZ, for example, is now home to more than 57 start-ups with over 500 jobs. There is an urgent need for office and laboratory space in both clusters.
The Medtech and Healthtech cluster was newly established around the Healthtechpark Zürich-Schlieren association, which was founded in 2021. This registers the first settlements. Cooperation with the cantonal location promotion agency and the Healthtechpark in Bülach is underway, with plans to expand to Dietikon in the coming years.
Economic Strategy 25 is to be further developed into the Schlieren 2030 long-term perspective in the spring. A brand strategy will then also be developed.
At the same time, location promotion is being restructured. The current location promoter Albert Schweizer will retire in May 2026. His 30 percent is to be increased to 80 percent. The position should be filled by February 1 at the latest to enable Albert Schweizer's relationships to be passed on. The City Chancellery will continue to support location promotion with a 10 percent workload, while the communications department will receive 10 percent instead of the previous 20 percent.
The Economic Council, which was created in 2021 and includes experts from the business world, will continue to support the work of the location promotion agency in the future. ce/stk
