Embrach ZH/Madiswil BE – The team at Moto Strahm AG has converted a disused Swiss Post delivery vehicle into a complete camping vehicle for the boss. (CONNECT) The "Kurzschluss Camper" team from Moto Strahm AG has won the 4th Circular Economy Challenge organized by Kyburz Switzerland. In the description of their project, the employees of the Kyburz service partner from Madiswil outlined their motivation: "Our boss needs a vacation and we need peace and quiet - that's why we're building him a camper." The conversion of a disused electric post DXP from Kyburz into a complete camping vehicle "speaks for a lot of imagination and perseverance in the realization!", according to a press release from the specialist for electric vehicles and transport solutions. The main prize is endowed with 3000 francs.
The 2nd prize and 2000 francs went to the Piaggio APE DXP project. Marco Dähler had been equipping his Piaggio APE 50 with a pizza oven for some time. For the Challenge, he replaced the noisy and weak combustion engine with a KYBURZ DXP.
Team Bächli received the 3rd prize, including 1000 francs, for its tool mobile. According to the jury, the mobile workshop with power connection, work surface, vice and lighting is "almost ready for sale". Kyburz itself overhauls decommissioned delivery vehicles as part of its 2ndLife program at Swiss Post. The company then puts them back on sale with a two-year factory warranty.
The Circular Economy Challenge took place as part of the 4th Circular Economy Symposium in the new Kyburz building at the Embrach site. The question was what role future drives and batteries will play in the circular economy.
Battery expert Prof. Dr. Maximilian Fichtner from Ulm University and Helmholtz Institute summarized the rapid development of storage technology. Marcel Gauch from the Technology & Society Lab at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology outlined possible future solutions. Former National Councillor Roger Nordmann (SP/VD) emphasized the need for massive government investment. According to Kyburz, Louis Palmer, who was the first to drive around the world emission-free in his SolarTaxi, gave a rousing speech in which he urged those present not to be discouraged in realizing their plans. ce/mm
