Zurich/Madrid – ANYbotics has combined its autonomous robotics for inspections with the ecosystem for machines and robots of the global tech group GMV. Together, the two companies have now won a tender from the Spanish energy companies Elewit/Red Eléctrica.
ANYbotics, a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, and GMV have won a tender from Elewit. Elewit is the innovation platform of the electricity grid operator Red Eléctrica Group and the technology platform for its parent company Redeia, the world's first transmission system operator. The solution from ANYbotics and GMV is intended to put industrial inspection in the energy sector on a new footing.
According to a statement from ANYbotics, the tender was issued as part of the Advanced Substation Monitoring(ASUMO) project of the Madrid-based companies Elewit and Red Eléctrica. It should promote maximum efficiency throughout the entire life cycle of the grid systems required for electricity transmission, while reducing both human and material resources.
To this end, ANYbotics has integrated its four-legged inspection robot ANYmal, designed for industrial plants, with the uPathWay fleet platform from the global technology group GMV, which is also based in Madrid. Elewit reportedly demonstrated the practical benefits of autonomous inspection in real-life applications as part of the project. A digital twin optimized remote operation and enabled preventive and corrective maintenance with real-time alerts to protect the systems in the transmission grid.
"This partnership with ANYbotics represents a significant milestone in industrial automation," summarizes Ángel C. Lázaro, Head of GMV's Robotics and Automation business unit in the industrial sector. Founded in 1984, the company is active in areas including aerospace and aviation, defense, cyber protection, the automotive industry and IT for government agencies and large companies. Accordingly, the uPathWay-ANYmal solution can be used for logistics, inspection, monitoring, maintenance, control, transportation and safety, among other things. ce/mm
