Winterthur – Autoneum has developed a carpet for vehicle interiors that consists of just one material. The N-Join1 carpet is produced waste-free from recycled raw materials, eliminates the need for latex and adhesives and can be fully recycled.
(CONNECT) Autoneum has launched the N-Join1 carpet as an environmentally friendly solution. According to a press release from the automotive supplier, the mono-material carpet system made from recycled raw materials makes the use of adhesives and water- and energy-intensive latex superfluous. Because it is made from a single material, it enables waste-free production and complete recycling at the end of its service life, according to the manufacturer.
The N-Join1 carpet is based on an innovative process in which the carpet surface is joined to the backing material in a single step. This can consist of different materials, according to Autoneum. If it is produced from 100 percent polyester like the carpet, the carpet and backing material can be recycled much more easily.
According to the press release, the recycling potential in particular results in a significant reduction in the CO2 footprint compared to conventional carpets of the same weight. Regardless of the type of drive, the new carpet is suitable for a wide range of vehicles. It is currently available in Europe and North America. ce/mm
