Schlieren ZH/Düsseldorf – CUTISS is among the ten finalists for the Spark Award. Medtech from Schlieren was selected for a tissue therapy developed in-house. The German Digital Prize will be awarded for the tenth time by “Handelsblatt” and McKinsey; the winner will be announced on November 6.
(CONNECT) CUTISS AG, which specialises in skin grafts, has been nominated for the Spark Award 2025, according to a press release. The medtech is competing in an online vote with nine other start-ups for the digital prize, awarded by "Handelsblatt" and McKinsey.
CUTISS, a spin-off from the University of Zurich (UZH) based in the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich, has developed a process for producing a tissue therapy that brings improvements in the healing of damaged skin. It is automatically cultivated skin tissue that adapts and grows like its own. This allows living, patient-specific skin to be produced for long-term safety and effectiveness in burns, reconstructions and aesthetic procedures.
The other nine finalists all come from Germany: Arx Robotics from Munich manufactures military robotics systems. The chip technology for fast data transmission from Black Semiconductor in Aachen is used in data centers to make artificial intelligence models more energy-efficient on the basis of light pulses, among other things. According to the company, the Siegen-based quantum computer specialist eleQtron wants to bring quantum computing from research to application. At its headquarters in Hamburg, Infinite Roots develops sustainable and protein-rich foods based on mycelium, a nutrient-rich network of mushroom roots.
Kipu Quantum from Karlsruhe supplies patented, hardware- and application-specific quantum algorithms to various industries "at the interface between complex quantum hardware and application software". The Metzingen-based Neura Robotics wants to usher in the age of robotics for everyone with a cognitive household and service robot developed in-house. Ulm-based Medtech NVision Imaging Technologies is taking new steps in the early detection of cancer with quantum technology. PlanQC from Munich is pursuing the approach of using electrically neutral atoms as the basis for quantum computing in order to integrate quantum technology more quickly into everyday industrial life. Reverion (Eresing near Munich) focuses its business activities on the development and construction of container-based power plants for electricity generation.
The Spark Award is being presented for the tenth time "to exceptional and innovative start-ups whose ideas have the potential to fundamentally and sustainably change markets". ce/heg
