Schlieren ZH – CUTISS can continue the Phase 3 trial for its denovoSkin skin graft with an additional 56 million Swiss francs in Series C funding. In addition, the cooperation with a new investor could lead to CUTISS’ first commercial production facility in the Netherlands.
(CONNECT) CUTISS has received 56 million Swiss francs from investors in a Series C financing round. According to a press release issued by the company, which is based in the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich, the funds raised to date amount to over 125 million Swiss francs.
This round was led by the family office of long-time main investor Giammaria Giuliani and an unnamed North American family. In addition to other family offices and industry players, a collective of investors from the non-profit Zurich-based organization Swisspreneur also participated.
Under the name denovoSkin, CUTISS has developed a process for the production of human, living skin for personalized application. The Phase 3 clinical trial for this lead product was initiated at the beginning of 2025 and is now to be continued with the help of the fresh capital. It will also be used to prepare the market launch.
The biotech company, which was founded in 2017 as a spin-off from the University of Zurich, has signed a cooperation agreement with its new investor Rode Kruis Zuikenhuis (RKZ). According to the announcement, this collaboration could lead to the establishment of the first international commercial production facility for CUTISS in the Netherlands. "As a clinical institution dedicated to the advancement of burns medicine, we support CUTISS and the development of denovoSkin," says RKZ CEO Nadine Vieleers.
RKZ is a leading center for clinical trials in the EU and participates in the phase 2 and phase 3 trials for denovoSkin. According to CUTISS CEO and co-founder Dr Daniela Marino, this agreement with the RKZ "lays the foundations for our future expansion and has the potential to revolutionize the market for skin surgery in Europe and worldwide". ce/mm
