Designwerk and Bronto Skylift cooperate on innovative e-truck

Winterthur/Hausen AG/Tampere – Designwerk Technologies and Finnish lift manufacturer Bronto Skylift present the first fully electric truck with a hydraulic lift. After Bauma in Munich, the vehicle will be used by the building cleaning company Rohr AG from Hausen.

(CONNECT) Winterthur-based Designwerk Technologies AG and Finnish aerial work platform manufacturer Bronto Skylift have launched the first fully electric truck with a hydraulic work platform and a maximum working height of 56 meters. According to a press release, the new vehicle will be presented at the Bauma trade fair in Munich from April 7 to 13.

The MC 8x2R electric truck from Designwerk is fitted with the aerial work platform from Bronto Skylift's S-XR series. The vehicle with four axles - three of which are steered - is easy to maneuver. A 500-kilowatt-hour battery provides full power for the entire working day.

The working platform can be extended to a height of 56 meters and has a working range of 41 meters. The extendable workman basket can carry loads of up to 600 kilograms. It is equipped with electrical connections and a water connection. This equipment was developed in collaboration with the Aargau-based cleaning company Rohr AG, which will also be putting the first commercial vehicle in the series into operation. Rohr AG wants to use the all-electric solution for façade and glass cleaning in urban environments and reduce CO2 emissions in the process, according to the press release.

"We are delighted to be able to offer our customers an environmentally friendly alternative without compromising on performance," said Dominik Keller, Global Access Segment Director at Bronto Skylift, in the press release. "This is an important step towards a more sustainable future for the industry. Rohr AG's initiative was crucial to the development of this product and we thank Designwerk for the successful collaboration." Patrick Dörge, Chief Operating Officer of Rohr AG, is convinced that the new e-truck meets the customers' desire to reduce the use of fossil fuels. ce/ww
