Schlieren ZH – The start-up promoter Venture Kick is supporting Lightium with 150,000 Swiss francs. The start-up based in Schlieren develops and produces TFNL-based photonic chips.
(CONNECT) Ligthium is supported by the Schlieren-based start-up promoter Venture Kick. The start-up based in the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich will receive 150,000 Swiss francs for the acceleration of data centers, Venture Kick announced in a press release. According to her, Lightium is the first company to develop and produce photonic chips based on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN). The glass-like material increases the data transfer rates of photonic integrated circuits and reduces their energy consumption at the same time.
Lightium intends to use the funds from the start-up sponsor to expand its own online presence, strengthen customer contacts and expand its staff and facilities. "Beyond the funding, the real added value lies in the visibility and credibility that comes with it," Lightium co-founder Frédéric Loizeau is quoted as saying in the press release. "Being part of Venture Kick strengthens our presence in the Swiss ecosystem and makes us more attractive to top talent, partners and future opportunities." ce/hs
