Loft Dynamics launches its first Airbus H145 simulator

(CONNECT) Loft Dynamics has launched its first flight simulator for the Airbus H145 helicopter. According to a statement from the Dübendorf-based manufacturer of virtual reality (VR)-based flight simulators, one of its first customers is the non-profit organisation Boston MedFlight, which intends to use the new simulators to train the pilots of its rescue helicopters.

The simulator for the H145 recreates real situations in a moving platform with six degrees of freedom. A complete replica of the H145 cockpit allows a 360-degree all-round view. The included full-body control system allows the pilot to see and experience the exact consequences of his flight movements in a virtual reality. Artificial intelligence and machine learning supplement the processes to be simulated. The LoftWIN software, also developed by the Dübendorf-based company, can be used to simulate real-life situations such as night flights, difficult flight and landing maneuvers and unexpected hazardous situations.

"Effective H145 training must go beyond helicopter handling - it must also replicate the physiological and emotional demands of real missions, from the pressure of transporting a critically injured child to coordinating with ground teams in rapidly changing conditions," Fabi Riesen, founder and CEO of Loft Dynamics, is quoted as saying in the statement. "Our new simulator makes this possible for H145 pilots."
