Mabylon Receives 30 Million Swiss Francs for Antibodies Against Allergies

Schlieren ZH – Mabylon has raised fresh capital of 30 million Swiss francs. The main aim is to continue the program to develop an antibody against peanut allergies. However, antibodies against the birch allergen and for the treatment of grass pollen allergies should also benefit.

(CONNECT) Mabylon AG can continue its research and pipeline programs for the development of antibodies against various allergens with an additional 30 million Swiss francs. The company, which is based in the Bio-Technopark Schlieren-Zurich, received this sum from private investors. According to a press release, most of them are former executives and members of the Board of Directors of the Roche pharmaceutical group.

In particular, Mabylon intends to use the fresh capital to advance its lead program for a tri-specific antibody to neutralize peanut allergens until the completion of a Phase 1a/b study in 2027. It will also enable Mabylon to further develop its research and preclinical programs. These include a multispecific and cross-reactive antibody against the birch allergen Bet v 1 as well as all important birch-related tree, fruit and nut allergens. The funding is also intended to support the development of an antibody product for the treatment of grass pollen allergies.

Gottlieb Keller, Chairman of the Mabylon Board of Directors, refers to peanut allergies as a prophylactic treatment "with a high unmet medical need. The funds will enable Mabylon to achieve clinical proof-of-concept and further advance its early-stage pipeline". According to CEO Dr. Alcide Barberis, the funding is "a strong endorsement of our approach of using human, multispecific antibodies to treat allergies".

Prof. Adriano Aguzzi will be replaced on the Board of Directors by Dr. Thomas Hecht. Aguzzi's term of office came to an end in June 2025. ce/mm
