Dübendorf ZH – Odne has secured 4.2 million Swiss francs in a series A1 financing. The dental start-up intends to use the fresh capital to expand its market position in the USA.
(CONNECT) The dental start-up Odne from Dübendorf has secured fresh capital of 4.2 million Swiss francs in a series A1 financing. The financing was led by ZEISS Ventures, the corporate venture arm of the Carl Zeiss Group, as well as a number of private and dental investors, according to a statement.
The company, a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich and Lausanne, intends to use the acquired funds to expand its market position in the USA. The company's own products Odne Clean, Odne Fill and Odne Cure have been approved by the US Food & Drug Administration. With its new technology platform for root preservation therapy (RPT), Odne aims to revolutionize endotony, according to the press release. This involves a minimally invasive cleaning of the root canal and a light-curing sealant.
“The solution addresses more clinical challenges than we had originally planned and is a user-friendly must-have for every dentist,” Andreas Schmocker, CEO and co-founder of Odne, is quoted as saying in the press release. “The complete Odne RPT workflow enables minimally invasive treatments, combines advanced irrigation with sterile water and simple light-curing obturation of complex root morphologies and is becoming the new gold standard.”
Boris Hofmann, Head of ZEISS Ventures, is convinced that “Odne's RPT workflow has the potential to fundamentally change endodontic treatment and offer benefits to both specialist endodontists and general practitioners”. ce/ww
