Schlieren ZH – Oxyle has developed the modular treatment process Oxyles PFAS Solutions. These PFAS solutions are specially designed for the removal of short and ultra-short chain PFAS. Short-chain PFAS are perpetual chemicals that accumulate particularly in bodies of water.
(CONNECT) The Schlieren-based With Oxyles PFAS Solutions, Oxyle AG has developed modular, adaptable processes for the removal of short-chain and ultra-short-chain PFASs. (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), as described in a Communication means. With its proprietary OxFoam, OxLight and OxSignal technologies, PFAS Solutions combines its modular PFAS systems with existing industrial solutions. Short-chain PFAS are so-called perpetual chemicals that accumulate in water bodies in particular.
OxFoam is a proprietary foam fractionation technology that separates and concentrates PFAS. OxLight eliminates PFAS even at high concentrations of short and ultra-short chains by photochemical reduction, while OxSignal provides continuous real-time insight into treatment performance.
By concentrating on these technologies, Oxyle is also taking its previous technology, the Piezocatalyst, out of circulation. According to the press release, the company wants to focus on its most competitive solutions in order to best meet the PFAS requirements of its customers.
"We are shifting our focus to the modular solutions that best address our customers' short-chain PFAS challenges. Oxycles PFAS Solutions brings us one step closer to our mission. We want to live in a world where everyone has access to clean water - and we hope that others will help us realise this dream," says Fajer Mushtaq, CEO and co-founder of Oxyle.
Current technologies cannot remove persistent PFAS pollutants in water and in some cases even leave behind more pollution. Furthermore, no single technology to date has been able to address the varying PFAS concentrations, water matrices, flow rates, accompanying contaminants and other factors, according to Oxyle.
Oxyle was launched in 2020 as a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). ce/yes
