Schlieren/Zurich – Venture Kick supports Remuun with 150,000 Swiss francs. The spin-off from the University of Zurich has developed a platform designed to speed up the discovery of precision antibodies. The aim is to improve immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer and similar diseases.
(CONNECT) The biotech start-up Remuun has secured funding of 150,000 Swiss francs for targeted antibody therapies in the treatment of cancer and related diseases, according to a statement from Venture Kick.
The start-up, which was spun off from the University of Zurich, has developed a patented platform that enables the rapid and precise production of customized monoclonal antibodies. "Based on its expertise in the interactions between the immune system and tumors, Remuun aims to deepen scientific understanding and develop more effective immunotherapies," the press release states.
Current procedures are often slow, cost-intensive and limited in their therapeutic scope. This makes it more difficult to develop new therapies, especially for cancer and diseases of the immune system. Remuun's approach aims to mimic the natural process of antibody diversification in the laboratory.
The funding will be used to build strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, drive forward the development of a new generation of antibody-based therapies and expand the intellectual property portfolio. "The funding, mentoring and access to a broad network of experts have not only accelerated our research, but also sharpened our business strategy," Richard Chahwan, founder and CEO of Remuun, is quoted as saying in the press release.
The start-up promoter Venture Kick supports young companies from the idea to the founding of the company. In addition to financing, it also offers mentoring and access to an international network of companies and investors. ce/heg
