Bäretswil ZH – SAEKI can accelerate the development of its fully autonomous factories with investments of 6.7 million dollars. For large composite components, they integrate quotation creation, 3D printing, processing and inspection into a single, seamless and fully automated process.
(CONNECT) SAEKI Robotics has secured 6.7 million dollars in seed capital. The seed financing round was led by Lightbird, the venture capital arm of Mobiliar Insurance. Other participants include Founderful from Zurich, 2100 Ventures from Treviso and Danobat, the Basque manufacturer of machine tools.
As SAEKI explains in a press release, the investment will accelerate the development of its own, fully autonomous factories for large-format components. These factories integrate quoting, 3D printing, machining and inspection into a single, seamless process. In this way, SAEKI aims not only to manufacture parts, but to reshape the way the industry approaches production. For example, customers can use SAEKI's new instant quotation platform to upload designs, configure requirements and receive instant prices for 3D printed and CNC machined components.
According to SAEKI co-founder and CEO Andrea Perissinotto, the use of artificial intelligence means that there is "an exponential and ever-widening gap between what we can design and what we can actually build". Only "by automating the entire process, from quotation to final inspection, will such advanced designs become manufacturable in large numbers".
According to SAEKI, "a leading Swiss construction group" has stated that Switzerland alone would need three to four SAEKIs to meet the demand for large-format components. And a global car manufacturer using SAEKI's 3D-printed composite mold construction has been able to shorten its production schedule by two weeks and deliver parts in just one week instead of six. ce/mm
