Zurich – ph. Ltd has increased sales of its sports regeneration drink KA-EX fivefold during the six-month test phase in the USA and has exceeded its targets right from the start. Overall, the Zurich-based start-up increased its turnover by 22% in the 2024 financial year.
ph. Ltd draws a positive interim conclusion after the first six months of sales of its sports regeneration drink KA-EX in the USA. The Zurich-based start-up has been represented in 28 centers of the Californian luxury fitness chain Equinox since June 2024. "During this time, we have increased our sales figures around fivefold and have started well above our target figures right from the start," co-founder and CEO Pedro Schmidt is quoted as saying in a company press release published by startupticker.ch. Overall, the company's turnover increased by 22% compared to the previous year.
KA-EX consists of 25 biomolecules designed to optimize recovery after intensive sport. KA-EX is also said to promote muscle growth and endurance. According to the press release, KA-EX is already one of the best-selling products in some Equinox stores, even though the price per bottle is almost twice as high as that of other beverages.
Because dietary supplements are generally much more established in the USA and the unique selling point of scientifically proven cortisol reduction is easier to communicate, Schmidt anticipates great potential: "If we were to achieve the same market penetration in the USA as we currently have in Switzerland, we could generate over 1 billion dollars in annual sales with KA-EX."
KA-EX will expand to New York with Equinox in the first quarter of 2025. The premium grocery store Happier Grocery is also adding the product to its range. For further market development in the USA, ph. Ltd intends to generate fresh capital of CHF 3 million in a series A financing. The company will also be launching its third swarm investment campaign on CrowdCube. ce/mm
