Snyk Takes Over Invariant Labs

Boston/Zurich – Snyk has announced the acquisition of Zurich-based Invariant Labs. With the acquisition, the American company aims to strengthen its research capacity and improve the real-time defense and security functions of its new AI Trust platform.

(CONNECT) Snyk, a Boston, Massachusetts-based provider of secure artificial intelligence (AI) software development, has announced the acquisition of Invariant Labs AG, a Zurich-based AI security research company. According to a press release, Snyk intends to use the acquisition to focus on further developing the AI security of its new AI Trust platform.

"This acquisition is an important integration into Snyk's recently launched AI Trust Platform, which enables applications to be protected from emerging threats," said Peter McKay, CEO of Snyk, according to the press release. The AI Trust Platform is a central platform designed to eliminate both current application and agent-based AI vulnerabilities. "With Invariant Labs, we are accelerating our ability to identify, prioritize and neutralize the next generation of agent-based AI threats before they reach production," added Manoj Nair, Chief Innovation Officer at Snyk, in the announcement.

Invariant Labs is a leader in researching these evolving risks and has already discovered and named attack terms such as Tool Poisoning and MCP Rug Pulls. Guardrails, a transparent security layer developed by Invariant Labs at the large language model and agent level, enables agent developers and software developers to extend existing AI systems with strong security safeguards. "We need to understand that agent-based AI systems, especially autonomous ones, represent a powerful new class of software and require stronger oversight and stronger safety guarantees than traditional approaches," said Dr. Marc Fischer, CEO and co-founder of Invariant Labs. "We are excited to become part of the Snyk team as this mindset is closely aligned with their mission." ce/nta
