Sonova is “Fortune's” most innovative company in Switzerland

New York/Stäfa ZH – In the ranking of the 300 most innovative companies in Europe, the New York business magazine “Fortune” ranks the hearing aid manufacturer Sonova as Switzerland’s best company in 12th place, followed by Nestlé, Roche and Novartis in 25th, 26th and 28th place respectively. The European leader is L’Oréal.

(CONNECT) Together with the Hamburg-based research company Statista, “Fortune” has for the first time compiled a ranking of Europe's most innovative companies with more than 250 employees. According to a press release, the list is led by L'Oréal (France), Unilever and Rolls-Royce (both UK). The list comprises 300 companies from 21 countries and 27 sectors. The United Kingdom holds the most rankings with 48 companies, followed by Germany with 44 and Switzerland with 39.

The evaluation is based on three pillars: product innovation, process innovation and innovation culture. Companies receive a score in each of these dimensions, with each dimension accounting for a third of the total score.

In this ranking, Sonova is the most innovative company from Switzerland. Sonova, one of the world's three largest manufacturers of hearing aids, is represented in the market by its core brands Phonak, Unitron, Hansaton, Advanced Bionics and AudioNova.

Sonova is followed by Nestlé (25), Roche (26) and Novartis (28) as the next best Swiss companies. Swiss Re (47), Rolex (63) and Swatch (65) are followed by Alcon (83), the Lonza Group (90) and ABB (92).

Among these ten top-ranked Swiss companies, the strongest of the three pillars at Sonova and Swiss Re is process innovation. All the others collected the most points in the product innovation category.

“There is a misconception that Europe is not innovative,” Grethe Schepers, Lists Director Europe at “Fortune”, is quoted as saying. “This groundbreaking list shows that innovative new ideas can be found in every industry and are changing the narrative forever.” ce/mm
