(CONNECT) The Top100 Swiss Startup Award looks back on its 15th anniversary this year. "What began as a simple ranking in 2011 has developed into one of the most influential innovation platforms in the country," according to a press release from the competition for start-ups organized by Schlieren-based Venturelab AG. Over the past 15 years, a total of 638 young companies have received awards. Together, they have raised around CHF 17.8 billion in venture capital and created 20,870 new jobs.
Every year, the 100 most promising young Swiss companies compete against each other in the competition. "Top100 shows that startups are the best investment for Switzerland," said Jordi Montserrat, co-founder and Managing Partner of Venturelab, in the press release. "Not only as a financial asset, but also as a driver for the next global market leaders and as a responsibility towards future generations."
A jury of investors selects the most promising young companies from the 100 competitors each year. This year, the jury chose Corintis, DePoly and DeepJudge. Corintis from Ecublens VD specializes in the cooling of high-performance semiconductors. DePoly from Sion makes it possible to break down PET plastics and polyester textiles into their raw materials at room temperature. DeepJudge from Zurich uses artificial intelligence to improve the work of law firms and legal departments. ce/hs
