Schlieren ZH – VirtaMed has further developed its embryo transfer simulator. The GynoS simulator supports all embryo transfer techniques. Among other things, a mini version is now available that allows flexible use for training purposes.
(CONNECT) The Schlieren-based company VirtaMed, which specializes in medical simulators, has improved its GynoS embryo transfer simulator, according to a press release. Additional catheter options can improve the training experience for medical professionals. New protocols also make it possible to further refine the techniques used. And with a new transportable mini version, training for surgeons can now be carried out even more flexibly.
GynoS was developed in collaboration with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), an umbrella organization of physicians in the USA. The GynoS is used to train doctors in embryo transfer for in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intrauterine insemination (IUI) with and without ultrasound guidance.
The simulator combines an anatomically correct pelvic model, real catheters and a transabdominal probe developed by VirtaMed and guided through the abdominal cavity. In the course, training cases are based on real ultrasound images of patients and include interchangeable uterine and cervical models with various unique features such as straight, curved and tortuous cervical canals, false passage canals and retroverted uteri.
According to VirtaMed, the simulator supports all three embryo transfer techniques defined by the ASRM. Insertion along a trial catheter, transfer with trial run and transfer without trial run are practiced.
VirtaMed is based in the IJZ Innovation and Young Entrepreneur Center and is a member of Start Smart Schlieren. ce/gba
