Zurich – Wildbiene + Partner has raised 775,000 Swiss francs in a crowdfunding campaign. The financing target had been 450,000 Swiss francs. Over 170,000 people have already set up 130,000 bee hotels since 2013. An additional 60,000 are to be added by 2029.
(CONNECT) Wildbiene + Partner successfully completed its swarm financing on June 1 at 11 pm. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich(ETH), the company was able to attract 528 investors on the Zurich platform OOMNIUM. They provided a total of 775,000 francs. The funding target of CHF 450,000 was thus exceeded by 172 percent.
With so-called BeeHomes as well as education and data, Wildbiene + Partner aims to achieve a measurable impact and bring back lost nature, according to its campaign presentation. Specifically, a total of 60,000 “new humming oases” are to be created by 2029. According to the information provided, the company has already set up 130,000 scientifically developed, sustainable and locally produced wild bee houses, including mason bees, in gardens, on balconies and on the grounds of schools and companies with 170,000 wild bee friends in Switzerland and Germany since it was founded.
This is Wildbiene + Partner's response to the biodiversity crisis documented by the Krefeld study. It shows that the biomass of flying insects has declined by over 75 percent in parts of Europe in just three decades. “Their absence threatens ecosystems, harvests - and ultimately ourselves,” says the Zurich-based company.
Wildbiene + Partner's milestones include the Swiss Sustainability Award in 2014, the launch of the wild bee care program in 2015, the training of the first artificial intelligence programs for nest detection in 2017, the scale-up label from Innosuisse in 2018 and the launch of the beta version of the MyBeeHome app in 2025. ce/mm
